What Fedora is suited for

Fedora provides the latest program versions from the Red Hat ecosystem: a current kernel, current Python, current databases and tools, with dnf, SELinux and firewalld as in RHEL. Suitable for development, testing and services that need new versions.

Versions and updates

Each Fedora version is supported for about thirteen months. A new version is released every six months. You install updates yourself with dnf. You can upgrade to the next version with dnf system-upgrade or by reinstalling in the customer portal.

In the customer portal

  • Reinstallation with a different operating system
  • Browser console
  • Rescue system
  • Start, stop and restart
  • Root password and SSH access
  • Primary IP and reverse DNS
  • Backups with download and restore
  • Resource usage and traffic

Key features of Fedora

Latest software versions

Fedora comes with current versions of the kernel, compilers, programming languages and databases. What appears in RHEL only years later is already included here.

The same toolchain as RHEL

dnf, SELinux, firewalld and systemd as with AlmaLinux and Rocky Linux. What you set up here can later be transferred to an enterprise system.

Short support period

About thirteen months per version. AlmaLinux and Rocky Linux are suitable for running unchanged for years, Fedora for current software.

Difference from AlmaLinux and Rocky Linux

Fedora is the development line from which RHEL is derived: newer, but maintained for a shorter time. AlmaLinux and Rocky Linux are the stable rebuilds with ten years of maintenance.

Container or fully virtualized

We offer Fedora as a container with Incus.

Container with Incus

Fedora 44, 43

Shares the host system's kernel, starts in seconds and is the lower-priced option. Suitable for web servers, databases, applications and Docker.

Contract terms

Term of 12 months

Minimum term for new orders. After that, the contract continues for an indefinite period and is cancellable with one month's notice. For business customers 12 months, then renewal for twelve months at a time, cancellation with a notice period of three months to the end of the term.

14-day right of withdrawal

Consumers can withdraw from the contract within fourteen days of its conclusion without giving any reason.

No setup fee

You pay only the monthly price. All prices include VAT.

.de domain included

A .de domain is included in the plan for the entire contract term, not just in the first year.

Annual payment 5% cheaper

If you pay twelve months in advance, the price is reduced by 5%. The term is then twelve months. Without a renewal, the contract then continues at the monthly price.

Business customers: up to 15% discount

Business customers can choose to pay 24 months (10% discount) or 36 months (15% discount) in advance.

Payment method of your choice

SEPA direct debit, bank transfer, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay, Amazon Pay, Revolut Pay, Link, Klarna, EPS, Bancontact and PayPal.
