Java Edition with Paper. The Bedrock version for consoles, mobile and the Windows edition of the game cannot connect.

Can I use Forge or Fabric mods?

No. The server runs Paper, which runs Spigot and Bukkit plugins. Forge or Fabric mods need a different server software.

Which tier do I need?

Flex S is enough for a small group without plugins. With plugins or a growing world Flex M is the right choice, for many players or large worlds Flex L or XL. The tier can be changed at any time.

Can I bring my existing world?

Yes. An existing world can be uploaded in the customer portal, and the current world can be downloaded at any time.

Can I set custom Java start parameters?

Yes. Custom system properties (-D), Java agents from the data folder and selected -XX options are entered in the customer portal.

Can I access the files of my server?

Yes, with the file manager in the customer portal. From Flex M you upload files, edit text files, create folders, rename and delete. With Flex S you view and download the files. Backups and settings files managed by the customer portal are read-only.

How quickly is my server ready?

Usually within minutes. The server is set up automatically, the access details are sent by email.

How long is the contract?

One month. After that the server can be cancelled monthly with one month's notice. There is no setup fee.

Can I play a different game later?

Yes. You switch the game yourself in the customer portal, free of charge and as often as you like. Your Minecraft world is kept. When you switch back, the last state is restored.

What happens to my world when I cancel?

Your last save is kept for 90 days after the contract ends. If you order a new Minecraft server within that time, it is taken over into the new server.

Where is the server located?

In a data center in Germany. Glowfish has been an owner-managed hosting provider in Munich since 2006.

Paper server software

Paper is a performance-oriented server software that runs Spigot and Bukkit plugins. Plugins are .jar files on the server, players do not install anything.

Plugins and mods are different things

Plugins run only on the server. Forge and Fabric mods change the game itself and must be installed by every player in the same version. Paper does not run Forge or Fabric mods.

Game version and existing world

A new game version is installed as soon as nobody is online. An existing world can be uploaded, the current one downloaded at any time.

Address

Every server gets a fixed name such as myserver.games.glowfish.de. A custom name like dragonhold.perfect-server.de and a dedicated IPv4 address are included in Flex XL and available as add-ons for the other tiers.
