Sharing server costs
Anyone who runs a server for a group often pays for it alone. For this case, there is the payment link: you share it, and anyone who wants to can pay an amount into your customer account. You apply the credit to your invoices in the customer portal.
Typical uses
- A game server on which several people play: the players contribute to the monthly fee.
- A streaming server for Twitch, YouTube or Kick: viewers who want to support the channel pay directly toward the server costs instead of into a private account.
- A server for a club or a joint project: several participants cover the running costs, while the contracting party remains a single person.
How it works
- Retrieve your payment link in the customer portal under "Guthaben und Einzahlungen" (Credit and payments). Assign a title for it that is shown on the payment page, for example the name of your server or your channel.
- Share the link with friends and acquaintances, your players or your viewers.
- Anyone who opens it chooses an amount between €5 and €500 and pays by card or another payment method, by PayPal or by bank transfer. They can also write you a personal message and enter a name or nickname. Without a name, the payment is anonymous.
- You see the message and name, or "anonym" (anonymous), in the customer portal under "Guthaben" (Credit) in the history of incoming payments.
- The amount is added to your customer account as credit. You apply it to open invoices in the customer portal. Paid-in credit is valid for three years.
What is shown on the payment page
The title and, if provided, your description. Your name, your address and your customer number do not appear there. Anyone who enters an email address receives a payment confirmation.
Tax treatment
Payments by third parties are not donations for tax purposes. The payer cannot deduct the amount as a donation, and we cannot issue a donation receipt for it. It is credit in your customer account that is treated as an advance payment toward your future invoices.
Letting someone else track incoming payments
You can give another person the right to view the credit balance and incoming payments and to share the payment link, for example a moderator of your community. Applying credit to invoices remains reserved for you. How to set this up is described under Access for additional users.
