Setting up access for additional users
If someone else manages your servers, that person needs their own access. You set it up in the customer portal and specify which contracts the person sees and what they are allowed to do there. You do not give out your own password for this, and you can restrict or revoke the access at any time.
Typical uses
- An external administrator manages the vServer of a company. They should be able to restart the server, open the console and create backup points. They do not get access to contract data or bank details.
- A moderator manages the game server of a community: backing up the world, installing extensions and restarting the server, without access to invoices.
- A colleague in accounting should be able to view and download invoices but not operate any server.
Setting up access
- Enter the email address of the person in the customer portal under Stellvertreterzugänge (Delegate access). The person receives an invitation, sets their own password and confirms their email address and mobile number. When they log in on a new device, a code is also sent by SMS.
- Then set the permissions. This is possible per area and per individual contract: an access can apply to one of three servers and allow only certain actions there.
- Every change to permissions takes effect immediately. If you block or remove an access, an active session ends with the next page request.
Available permissions
The permissions are grouped by area. "Einsehen" (View) is the prerequisite for everything else in every area.
| Area | Available permissions |
|---|---|
| vServer | View, Start, Stop, Restart, Open console, Reinstall, Set root password, Backup points, Network settings, Book Rettungsverzeichnis (temporary storage that is kept during a reinstallation) |
| Game servers | View, Start, Stop, Restart, Console and commands, Backups, Extensions, Game settings, Manage world, Server log |
| Web hosting | View, Files, Databases, Mailboxes, Certificates |
| Streaming | View, Start, Stop, Change settings |
| Monitoring | View, Change checks |
| DynDNS | View, Change hostnames |
| Domains | View, Change DNS records |
| Invoices | View and download, Pay open invoices by PayPal or card |
| Credit balance | View balance and incoming payments, Retrieve and share payment link |
What remains reserved for you
Anything that binds you contractually or financially cannot be delegated. These actions remain available only to you, even if you otherwise give a person extensive permissions:
- Canceling contracts and deleting products
- Changing master data, payment method and bank details
- Placing orders
- Applying credit to invoices
- Setting up and managing additional access
- Changing the account password and two-factor settings
What the other person sees of your account
A delegate sees the contracts you have granted them access to and the actions permitted there. Your address and customer number are not shown to them. You appear under a display name that you set before the first invitation or, with your consent, under your name.
