Game server or your own vServer?
For the games we support, a game server is the right choice. For games we do not offer and for modpacks with their own server core, a vServer is suitable.
A game server is the right fit if …
- you play Minecraft, Valheim, Factorio, Project Zomboid, Terraria, Don't Starve Together, Core Keeper, Garry's Mod or Hytale
- the server should be running within minutes without you installing anything
- you want to handle start, stop, restart, console and backup in the customer portal
- you do not want to take care of server updates
A vServer is the right fit if …
- you want to run a different game
- you want to run a modpack with Forge or Fabric
- you want to run several games at the same time on one machine
- you need additional services anyway, such as a voice server, website or database

What is often underestimated
A game server on your own vServer is quickly set up. The effort comes during ongoing operation: game updates, backups, securing the system and troubleshooting outages are then your responsibility.
Combining both
The main game can run on a game server, with a small vServer alongside it for everything else, such as a voice server, an overview map or a website for the group.
