How much does your own server cost per month?
Your own virtual server costs from €6.00 per month with us. A website with mailboxes does not need its own server. Web hosting from €6.50 per month is sufficient for that. The difference is not the price but who maintains the system.
What determines the price
- RAM: the item with the greatest effect on the price. It determines how many services can run at the same time.
- CPU cores: important for databases and anything that computes continuously.
- Storage: NVMe throughout on our servers, which is significantly faster than conventional SSDs.
- Virtualization type: a container is less expensive than a fully virtualized machine. You only need the latter if you require your own kernel, for example for a VPN or your own firewalls.

All prices are per month including VAT, without a setup fee and with a .de domain for the entire term. Traffic is unlimited under the fair use principle and is not throttled (Terms and Conditions, section 3.2).
What to watch for when comparing
The monthly price alone says little. These items often appear only later in offers:
- Setup fee: a one-time charge, but it noticeably shifts the comparison in the first year.
- Traffic: some offers include a quota and charge for usage beyond it or throttle the connection.
- Backups: often an extra item, although they are the most important part of operation.
- Dedicated IPv4 address: increasingly charged separately because addresses have become scarce.
- Net or gross: offers for business customers often show net prices. The 19% makes the difference.
- Minimum term: promotional prices often apply only for the first months and increase afterwards. What matters is the price over the entire term. With us, the stated price applies for the entire minimum term of twelve months.
When web hosting costs less
For a website with mailboxes, you do not need your own server. With web hosting, we take care of the operating system, security updates and backups. You only maintain your content. This starts at €6.50 per month. You spend no working time on server maintenance.
What a server additionally costs when you run it yourself
Your own server means responsibility: installing updates, securing services, checking backups and troubleshooting yourself when problems occur. If you do not want that, you can hand over operation. We then maintain the system, install security updates and monitor availability.
